Lucknow: The Department of Geography & Remote Sensing GIS, National P.G. College, Lucknow, organised a comprehensive and high-impact UPSC mentorship session under its renowned flagship initiative TAPASYA — Training and Practices for Achieving Success of Youth’s Aspirations. Known for its free academic support and transformative mentorship model, TAPASYA has emerged as one of the most impactful student-centric programmes for civil services aspirants in the city.
This year’s session, held in collaboration with Study IQ IAS, centred around the theme “Campus to Collectorate”, aimed at bridging academic learning with real-world administrative experience. The programme drew an impressive participation of more than 500 students from National P.G. College and various institutions across Lucknow.
In his inaugural address, Prof. D.K. Singh, Principal of National P.G. College and Director of TAPASYA, welcomed the speakers, faculty, and students, emphasising that TAPASYA has matured into a pioneering mentorship ecosystem. He praised the Department of Geography & Remote Sensing GIS for sustaining academic excellence and for developing TAPASYA into a platform that fosters ambition, discipline, and leadership in young aspirants. Mentorship from experienced bureaucrats, he said, helps bridge critical gaps in preparation, especially for first-generation aspirants.
Prof. P.K. Singh, Coordinator of TAPASYA, highlighted the programme’s sustained impact over the years. He noted that TAPASYA has become a guiding force for students from diverse disciplines by offering clarity, strategy, and exposure to administrative realities. Interaction with senior bureaucrats, he added, plays a vital role in strengthening conceptual understanding and instilling ethical and motivational foundations.

Dr. Vijender Singh Chauhan, UPSC Mentor, stressed the importance of disciplined study plans, systematic revision, analytical test-series evaluation, and mental preparedness.

Anil Swaroop, Retired IAS and former Secretary to the Government of India, delivered an inspiring address on ethical governance and people-centric administration, reminding aspirants that clearing UPSC marks the beginning of a lifelong commitment to public service.

Alok Ranjan, Retired IAS and former Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, shared long-term preparation strategies focusing on syllabus mastery, structured writing practice, emotional balance, and perseverance.

Amrit Upadhyay, Chief Academic Officer, Study IQ IAS, discussed evolving UPSC trends, the role of current affairs, and the critical importance of structured mentorship in improving success rates.
Students expressed immense appreciation for the session, stating that the interaction with senior IAS officers provided unparalleled clarity and strengthened their determination to approach UPSC preparation with greater seriousness and strategy.
The event also saw the active presence of faculty members including Dr. Ritu Jain, Dr. Amit Kumar Gupta, Dr. Abhishek Singh, Ashutosh Rajpoot, and Ritanshu Tiwari, who contributed significantly to the programme’s successful execution.
