Mumbai: At a fireside chat hosted at FICCI FRAMES 2025 and moderated by former Indian cricketer turned commentator Dinesh Karthik, Ishan Chatterjee, CEO – Sports, JioStar emphasized the growing stature of women’s cricket and the responsibility of broadcasters in shaping its future.
“It is one of the biggest priorities for us to make sure that we get women’s cricket and drive growth over there. The quality and the standard that women’s cricket has reached right now is on par with the men’s game in many different ways. I think it is incumbent on us as the broadcaster to be able to provide visibility for the game and tell the right stories,” Ishan said.
During a rapid-fire moment at the session, Ishan also shared that Smriti Mandhana is his favourite cricketer. He also highlighted the impact of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and India’s strong performances at the global stage have created a powerful momentum.
