Lucknow | In a serious case involving the exploitation of a minor girl and threats of forced religious conversion, the Chinhat Police in Lucknow have arrested a 22-year-old youth named Armaan Ansari, following an FIR registered against him under multiple sections of the law, including the POCSO Act and provisions related to criminal intimidation and coercion.
According to the police report, Armaan Ansari, a resident of Makkaganj, Khadra, under Madeyganj police station limits, had allegedly lured and manipulated a minor girl into accompanying him. He is accused of engaging in inappropriate acts with her, followed by issuing threats to her life in case she disclosed the incident. The victim has also alleged that she was pressured and threatened with religious conversion during the ordeal.
Following the complaint filed by the girl’s family, Chinhat police acted swiftly and initiated a manhunt to trace the accused. Based on technical surveillance and inputs from local sources, a police team arrested the accused from beneath Nishatganj bridge, in front of Umrao Mall, without incident.
Senior officers confirmed that the girl has been rescued and is now in safe custody, and all legal protocols including medical examination and counseling are being followed as per child protection guidelines.

Chinhat SHO emphasized the seriousness of the charges, stating that the case was being investigated on priority and that the accused would face strict legal action under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, IPC Sections pertaining to kidnapping, criminal intimidation, and also under provisions of anti-conversion laws if applicable.
The incident has triggered concern among locals and rights groups, as such crimes targeting minors raise alarming questions about safety, psychological trauma, and misuse of religious sentiments for coercive purposes.
Police Commissionerate Lucknow has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards crimes involving children and women and assured that a chargesheet will be filed swiftly to ensure justice is served.
