Gorakhpur : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated newly constructed barracks and a modern hospital at the 26th Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) Battalion in Gorakhpur. Following the inauguration, the CM inspected the medical facility and addressed the personnel, emphasizing the transformation of Uttar Pradesh from a riot-prone, mafia-dominated state to a model of law and order and discipline.
“Today, Uttar Pradesh has shed its past of unrest and emerged as a state of discipline and celebration. This progress is the result of robust internal security led by a committed police force,” said the Chief Minister while addressing the gathering at the inauguration ceremony.
Record Recruitment and Infrastructure Development
Highlighting the strides made in police recruitment, CM Yogi noted that over the past eight years, the state has completed a record 2.16 lakh police recruitments, including a recent transparent recruitment of 60,244 personnel—without any corruption. “This achievement has set a national and international benchmark,” he added.
He emphasized the expansion of police training capacity, which has grown from accommodating just 3,000 trainees in 2017 to over 60,000 at present. Currently, new recruits are undergoing training at 112 centers across the state. “Hard work and commitment must be the foundation of police training. The more you sweat during training, the less blood you shed in service,” the CM remarked.
Training Aligned with New Laws and Technology
Referring to the three new criminal laws implemented in July 2024 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, CM Yogi stated that every trainee must be well-versed in these legislations. He stressed the importance of technical education in forensic science, cybercrime, digital arrest procedures, and awareness of women’s safety initiatives under Mission Shakti.
He also urged that trainees be sensitized to traffic safety and be involved in awareness drives, particularly with school children. “Every police officer should interact with students, explain road safety norms, black spots, and the dangers of overspeeding. We must inspire responsible civic behaviour,” he said.
A Vision for Community-Centric Policing
CM Yogi encouraged initiatives like tree plantations and campus beautification through community participation. “Such actions by police forces leave a lasting impact on society and inspire public trust,” he noted.

The CM underlined the importance of police presence at the grassroots. “Every woman constable after training should serve as a beat officer in villages or wards, working for the safety, respect, and empowerment of women,” he added.
From Broken Barracks to High-Rise Buildings
Recalling his early days as Chief Minister, Yogi said that police barracks were in a dilapidated state. Since then, the state government has vastly improved infrastructure in every police line, station, and PAC battalion. “Today, the tallest buildings in many districts are police headquarters. This is the transformation of our police infrastructure,” he said.
Law and Order: From Fear to Respect
Yogi Adityanath said that eight years ago, Uttar Pradesh’s name evoked fear and rejection—be it in hotels or dharamshalas. “Today, when someone mentions UP, there’s a spark of pride. That’s the shift we’ve brought about,” he declared.
He credited the state’s police force for this transformation, stating, “Our officers and jawans are the pillars behind the success of our law-and-order reforms. Their service commands public respect today.”
