CM Yogi Adityanath Performs Special Worship of Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath, Pays Tribute to Lineage of Nath Gurus at Gorakhnath Temple

Gorakhpur : In a spiritual spectacle steeped in tradition and reverence, Guru Purnima was celebrated with grandeur at the historic Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur on Thursday. The sacred rituals began at the break of dawn and culminated with a majestic Maha Aarti, in the presence of Gorakshpeethadheeshwar and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The CM, who also heads the Gorakhnath Peeth, led the observance in accordance with Nath Panth traditions, performing Vishisht Poojan (special worship) of Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath—revered as an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He also paid homage to the spiritual lineage of Nath gurus including his Guru, the late Mahant Avaidyanath, his grand-guru Mahant Digvijaynath, and Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath.

Rituals Begin Before Sunrise

The Guru Purnima celebrations at the Gorakhnath Temple commenced at 5:00 AM with elaborate Vedic rituals. Yogi Adityanath first offered prayers at the sanctum of Guru Gorakhnath, followed by circumambulation of the temple complex, performing pooja at every deity’s shrine. As per tradition, Roti—a sacred offering in Nath Panth—was presented to Guru Gorakhnath as Mahaprasad.

He then visited the samadhi sites of Brahmaleen (late) Nath gurus, including Mahant Digvijaynath and Mahant Avaidyanath, and performed shradha-pujan with full Vedic recitations, offering gratitude for their spiritual guidance and contributions to the Nath tradition.

Deep Reverence and Message to the Nation

Addressing devotees and followers, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended heartfelt greetings to all Indians on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima. He emphasized the eternal relevance of Guru in shaping lives and leading society on the path of righteousness and service. “The Guru not only imparts knowledge but also uplifts the soul, guiding humanity toward collective welfare,” he said.

Maha Aarti and Spiritual Atmosphere

As the rituals concluded, a magnificent Maha Aarti was performed, resonating with devotional chants and the sound of conch shells, bells, and cymbals. Devotees thronged the temple premises to witness the divine celebration, which symbolized the timeless bond between Guru and disciple.

The entire temple complex, bathed in the golden glow of morning light and devotional fervor, echoed with chants of Guru Vandana. The atmosphere was infused with serenity, reflection, and gratitude.

A Celebration of Spiritual Heritage

The Guru Purnima celebration at Gorakhnath Temple is not just a religious ceremony but a reaffirmation of India’s rich spiritual traditions. Under Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, the Peeth continues to be a guiding force for countless devotees, preserving the Nath sect’s teachings of discipline, service, and inner awakening.

The event not only reflected deep-rooted faith but also underscored the role of tradition in uniting communities through shared spiritual values.
