New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to undertake a significant five-nation diplomatic tour in early July, with planned visits to Morocco, Argentina, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jordan. The visit is part of India’s broader push to reinforce its leadership role in the Global South and forge a united front against global terrorism in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
This strategic outreach aims to deepen India’s engagement with key regions across Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and the Caribbean, focusing on partnerships in defense, trade, AI, climate change, and diaspora ties.
Stop 1: Morocco – Strengthening North African Ties
PM Modi’s tour will commence in Morocco, where he is set to meet King Mohammed VI in Rabat. The visit, long anticipated but previously delayed due to scheduling issues, marks a renewed emphasis on ties with North Africa’s emerging economies. Morocco’s geopolitical influence in West Africa and Southern Europe makes it a vital partner for India’s outreach in the Arab world.
Stop 2: Argentina – Strategic Mineral and Defense Partner
From Morocco, the Prime Minister will travel to Argentina, where India is seeking deeper cooperation in critical minerals, food security, and defense. Talks in Buenos Aires are expected to enhance bilateral partnerships in agriculture, defense manufacturing, and logistics connectivity, ahead of the BRICS Summit in Brazil.
Stop 3: Brazil – BRICS Summit Participation
On July 6–7, PM Modi will participate in the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, hosted by Brazil. He will meet leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping, and counterparts from South Africa, Indonesia, UAE, Egypt, Ethiopia, and potential BRICS partners like Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Nigeria. Brazil’s BRICS presidency has emphasized reforms in global governance, climate action, health, AI, and sustainable economic cooperation.
Stop 4: Trinidad and Tobago – Engaging the Indian Diaspora
In Trinidad and Tobago, PM Modi is expected to engage with the large and influential Indian-origin diaspora, further deepening cultural and economic ties in the Caribbean region. The visit highlights India’s commitment to its global diaspora and enhances people-to-people diplomacy.
Stop 5: Jordan – Bolstering West Asian Security Ties
The final leg of the tour will take PM Modi to Jordan, where he will hold high-level talks on counter-terrorism cooperation and regional stability. The visit comes at a crucial time, reinforcing India’s strategic footprint in West Asia and enhancing its profile as a reliable regional partner.
Key Strategic Objectives of the Tour
