“Knowledge transfer and technology sharing are key pillars of collective growth,” says MoS Jayant Chaudhary
New Delhi: India marked its presence at Africa’s biggest technology and startup gathering, GITEX Africa 2025, held in Marrakesh, Morocco. The three-day event brought together global policymakers, innovators, and entrepreneurs to explore partnerships aimed at driving inclusive and equitable growth in the digital economy.
Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Education, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, led India’s delegation. He participated in high-level bilateral meetings, panel discussions, and also engaged with Indian startups participating in the event.
Highlighting India’s advancements, the Minister noted that the country’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) has brought transformative change across sectors. From Aadhaar and UPI to platforms like ONDC and digital health systems, India’s DPI models are being seen as templates for scalable public good. He also pointed to the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), which has already reached over one crore users within a year and a half, as a major example of tech-enabled skilling.
“Our collaboration with African nations can help fast-track digital transformation. India’s success with open-source digital infrastructure can be shared and adapted to support similar development goals in partner countries,” Shri Chaudhary said. He emphasized the opportunity to deepen ties in AI, cybersecurity, digital finance, and e-learning, all crucial pillars of the evolving global tech ecosystem.

Citing the 2025 Stanford AI Index, which reports a 33.39% year-on-year rise in AI talent hiring in India, the Minister underscored the country’s position as a growing hub for skilled digital professionals, particularly in emerging technologies.
On the sidelines of the summit, Shri Chaudhary met with key Moroccan ministers, including Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni (Digital Transition), Azzedine El Midaoui (Higher Education), Younes Sekkouri (Economic Inclusion), and Mohammed Saad Berrada (National Education). The discussions explored areas for collaboration in AI, digital infrastructure, research, and skills development.
India’s participation at GITEX Africa underlined its growing role as a global partner in digital innovation and skill development. Initiatives such as Digital India, Skill India, Aadhaar, UPI, DigiLocker, SIDH, and DIKSHA continue to demonstrate how inclusive technology can be harnessed for public good. These efforts are increasingly being studied and adopted by other nations seeking scalable, citizen-centric digital transformation.
