Lucknow — Uttar Pradesh’s diverse range of products has not only garnered admiration globally but has also seen substantial growth in international sales. According to data released by the Ministry of Commerce, sectors such as leather, carpets, spices, and both organic and inorganic products have contributed significantly to the state’s export boom. Export experts attribute this surge to the growing reputation of Uttar Pradesh’s products in global markets.
Leather Industry Shows Promising Growth
The leather industry has particularly benefited, with raw leather and leather products worth $103.58 million exported to various countries within just 31 days. From April to date, the leather industry has achieved foreign trade worth $917.18 million. Kanpur, a major hub for leather production, stands to gain significantly from this trend, with businesses hopeful that the demand for raw leather, saddlery, and finished products will continue to rise. Asad Iraqi, Regional Chairman of the Leather Council, expressed optimism about the industry’s growth, driven by increasing global demand.
Carpet Industry Witnesses Strong Demand
Uttar Pradesh-made carpets have seen remarkable demand internationally, generating $57.22 million in business recently. From April onwards, the state’s carpet exports have amounted to $506.35 million. The intricate craftsmanship and quality of these carpets have made them highly sought after in foreign markets.
Rising Demand for Organic and Inorganic Products
The demand for organic and inorganic products has also surged, with exports reaching $46.95 million within a month. This growth highlights the expanding global market for environmentally friendly and sustainable products produced in Uttar Pradesh.
Growth in Gems, Jewelry, and Petro Products
According to the Ministry of Commerce report, there has been a notable increase in the demand for gems, jewelry, spices, and petrochemical products. From April to date, products related to the gems and jewelry sector have recorded exports worth $310.69 million, reflecting a robust growth trajectory.
Impressive Export Figures
The Ministry of Commerce’s data reveals that from April onwards, Uttar Pradesh has exported goods worth $15.89 billion to various countries worldwide. In a single month, the state achieved a business turnover of $1.8 billion. Products in high demand include electronics, engineering goods, meat and dairy products, and ready-made garments.
Kanpur Gains from Leather Demand
Kanpur, known for its leather industry, is reaping substantial benefits from the increased global demand for leather and related products. The rising demand for raw leather, saddlery, and finished goods is expected to bolster the local economy. Asad Iraqi, Regional Chairman of the Leather Council, believes that the growing demand for both raw and finished leather products will continue to drive the industry’s growth, providing significant economic benefits to the region.
