GAMBLING RACKET BUSTED IN SOUTH DELHI; SEVEN ARRESTED

New Delhi: The Special Staff of the South District Police achieved a significant breakthrough by busting a gambling racket operating in the Khanpur Extension area. During the raid, seven individuals were apprehended, and ₹22,950 in stake money was recovered.

The accused, identified as Nikhil, Vasif, Anshu, Kanhaiya Lal, Anup Kumar, Rakesh, and Murshid, were caught red-handed during the operation. A case under the Delhi Public Gambling Act (FIR No. 477/24) has been registered at Tigri Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

Tip-Off Leads to Arrests

The operation was led by the Special Staff under the supervision of Inspector Girish Chandra and ACP Operations, Abhinendra Jain. Acting on a secret input received by HC Anoop Kumar, a team was constituted, including SI Naveen and other officers, to take immediate action.

“After conducting surveillance and gathering intelligence, a trap was laid in the Khanpur Extension area. Upon raiding the suspected premises, seven individuals were found engaged in gambling. They were immediately apprehended, and the stake money was recovered,” said a senior police official.

Profiles of the Accused

The arrested individuals are aged between 20 and 44 years and hail from various parts of South Delhi, including Sangam Vihar, Durga Vihar, Ambedkar Nagar, and Dakshinpuri.

Recovery Made

During the raid, the police recovered ₹22,950 in cash, believed to be the stake money used during the gambling session.

The police have intensified patrolling and deployed teams to monitor suspicious activities in the district. “Our focus remains on curbing organized crimes such as gambling and bootlegging, and we will continue taking proactive steps to ensure law and order,” said the ACP.
