Lucknow — Under the chairmanship of the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel, an online review meeting was held at Raj Bhavan to assess the progress of the Samarth ERP implementation in 24 state universities. The meeting also reviewed the works proposed by 14 universities in relation to the funds sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM Usha) scheme and the GSU project.
During the meeting, the Governor emphasized the urgent need for 100 percent implementation of Samarth ERP across all state universities. She directed the Vice Chancellors and senior officials to take personal responsibility for the system’s execution, urging them to work diligently across all 41 modules of Samarth ERP to ensure its timely completion. The Governor highlighted the importance of using Samarth ERP exclusively, advising universities not to rely on private ERP systems. Additionally, she stressed the importance of preserving student legacy data in the prescribed format for a smooth transition to the new system.
Focus on Student Benefits
Governor Patel emphasized that the Samarth ERP system is designed to benefit as many students as possible, streamlining administrative processes and providing enhanced academic services. She called on universities to actively involve students in these efforts, ensuring the ERP’s full potential is realized in serving the student community. “Only through dedication and comprehensive use of the ERP’s capabilities can its timely implementation be assured,” she stated.
Review of PM Usha Yojana Funds
The meeting also covered the funds allocated to 14 universities under the PM Usha Yojana. The Governor suggested that each university form an implementing agency and a committee to oversee the utilization of these funds. Stressing the importance of quality in construction work carried out with PM Usha funds, she instructed that the best materials be used for ongoing infrastructure projects.
Further, Governor Patel encouraged universities to move beyond traditional seminars, advocating for initiatives that provide students with practical knowledge, which would help them become job creators rather than job seekers. She also recommended that the universities leverage the vision of international seminars initiated by the Prime Minister to familiarize students with modern technology.
Utilization of Funds and Student Development
Governor Patel urged universities to use funds received from the Central Government in the best interest of the students, ensuring they benefit from all available resources. She instructed that all university-related tasks be performed using the Samarth ERP system, and funds under the PM Usha Yojana should be utilized for the all-round development of students. “This meeting is a significant step toward innovation and improvement in the education sector, which will not only strengthen the universities of the state but also secure a brighter future for students,” she remarked.
Uttar Pradesh Leading in Samarth ERP Implementation
Governor Patel commended Uttar Pradesh for being the top-ranking state in the country in implementing the Samarth ERP system, calling it a matter of pride for the state. She praised the dedication and discipline of university officials and urged them to continue working with the same zeal in the future.
The virtual meeting was attended by the state’s Higher Education Minister, Yogendra Upadhyay, along with key officials including Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, Principal Secretary of Higher Education, M.P. Aggarwal, and Special Secretary of Higher Education, Shibu Giri. Officers from Samarth ERP and Raj Bhavan were also present at the meeting.
