Lucknow: Along with the records of 18th century in Lucknow Development Authority, currently prevalent files can now be easily found. For this, a high-tech record room will be built in the Authority building located in Gomti Nagar at a cost of approximately Rs. 03 crore. Where files will be saved under mobile compact storage system and if needed, the file can be traced in a few seconds by scanning the barcode.
On the instructions of LDA Vice President Prathamesh Kumar, tender has been issued for the work of construction and upgradation of record room.
Vice Chairman of Lucknow Development Authority Prathamesh Kumar said that the authority has thousands of important files of Nazul, Improvement Trust, Sealing, Arjan, Map and Property etc. Out of these, some files of Nazul and Trust are of 18th century. At present, all these files are maintained in record rooms built in two different places.
Out of these, one record room is in LDA office located in Lalbagh and one record room is in the old building of Authority Bhawan located in Gomti Nagar. Due to record rooms being at different places, difficulties are faced in saving and keeping the files safe, finding and carrying them. Along with this, complaints of files getting lost also keep coming up. This not only disrupts the departmental work, but the allottees also have to visit the authority for months for their work.
Record room to be built in 1200 square meter area
Keeping these circumstances in mind, it has now been decided to build a state-of-the-art record room at one place. Under this, a modern record room will be built in an area of about 1200 square meters on the fourth, fifth and sixth floor of the old building of the Authority Bhawan located in Vipin Khand of Gomti Nagar. In this, files and maps will be kept in closed shelves designed with state-of-the-art technology under the mobile compact storage system. This will allow storing as many files as possible in less space. Also, there will be complete relief from the danger of files getting damaged due to dampness and termites.
Old records will be digitized
Vice Chairman Prathamesh Kumar said that non-combustible material will be used in the construction of the record room. Due to which in case of fire, the fire will not spread and the documents can be saved. He said that barcode scanners will be installed on all file boxes, so that if needed, the file of any scheme can be easily scanned and traced. Apart from this, digitization of documents will be done to preserve the old records of Nazul and Improvement Trust etc. To ensure that the record room is operated in a sensitive manner, only the employees posted in the record section will be allowed to enter there. For this, only the employees of the section will be given access card of the record room.
