– Teachers’ Day celebration organized in AKTU, nine teachers given Outstanding Teacher Award
Lucknow: Teachers’ Day celebration was organized on the birth anniversary of former President Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University. In the program, nine teachers of institutions affiliated to the university were given Outstanding Teacher Award. Teachers who retired in the last session were also honored.
Presiding over the program on this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. JP Pandey said that the one who teaches in the classroom is not the only teacher. Anyone who gets education can be a teacher. A lot can be learnt even from a child. He outlined the opportunities and challenges in front of teachers at present.
He said that in the current perspective, teachers face the most challenges. It is important to establish yourself as a teacher. For this, the teacher will have to do innovative teaching. Because today’s student knows a lot. He is very skilled in technology. Using technology, he knows a lot even before studying in the classroom.
In such a situation, teachers need to keep themselves updated with new technology. Teachers have to be one step ahead of time. Only then will their relevance remain. Because teachers have an important responsibility in nation building. Only a teacher can give the right direction to the youth under his guidance.
The chief guest of the ceremony, former Vice Chancellor of Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay University, Gorakhpur, Prof. VK Singh said that everyone has the qualities of a teacher somewhere. From which the society learns from someone or the other. But the teacher needs to give values to the students along with education. Education without values is fatal.
He also gave an example of this. He told that there are many literate and educated people in big terrorist organizations. But due to lack of values, such people are engaged in the destruction of society. He said that India has been known for its cultured education for centuries. People from all over the world used to come to universities like Takshila and Nalanda to get values along with education.
Even today, India is far ahead of others in this direction. He said that on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, teachers should do self-evaluation. As a teacher, one is always in touch with the new generation.
