New Delhi: With Bangladesh’s defeat against West Indies, the six teams that have directly qualified for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 have been confirmed. The remaining two spots will be determined through the World Cup Qualifiers. New Zealand emerged as the last team to secure direct qualification for the mega tournament.
India, as the host nation, received an automatic entry, while the other five teams secured their spots through the Women’s Championship. These five teams include defending champions Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand.
Both Bangladesh and New Zealand finished with equal points in the Women’s Championship, but New Zealand earned their ticket due to having more wins. Australia dominated the championship with 39 points, followed by India in second place with 37 points. England (32), South Africa (25), Sri Lanka (22), and New Zealand (21) are the other teams to qualify directly for the World Cup.
Bangladesh (21), West Indies (18), Pakistan (17), and Ireland (8) will now compete with Scotland and Thailand in the World Cup Qualifiers. Only two of these six teams will secure the remaining spots in the ICC tournament.
During the Women’s Championship, India matched Australia with 18 wins in 24 matches. However, a tied match against Bangladesh and five losses left India two points behind the Australian team, which emerged as the Championship winners.
