Developing a global outlook in youth is essential— Pawan Singh Chauhan, MLC, UP
Lucknow: The two-day Model United Nations (MUN), organized by City Montessori School, Mahanagar Campus, commenced today with great enthusiasm at the school’s auditorium. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Pawan Singh Chauhan, Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Distinguished guests present on the occasion included Prof. Banshi Dhar Singh, Dean, Faculty of Law, Lucknow University and Falit Sijaria, India Head Delegate, G-20 Youth Summit, who added grace to the ceremony with their presence. This Model United Nations is being held in collaboration with IIT Delhi on the theme “Bridging Borders, Building Futures” on 12th and 13th July at the CMS Mahanagar Campus auditorium. Over 350 students from prestigious schools across the country are participating. This conference simulates the functioning of the United Nations, providing participants the opportunity to express their views freely on critical global issues across various committees.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Chief Guest Pawan Singh Chauhan emphasized the importance of fostering a global perspective in adolescents and youth in today’s era of globalization. He said such events provide young people with knowledge of current events, international relations, and diplomacy, enabling them to become capable of addressing challenges. Special Guest of Honour, Prof. Banshidhar Singh brought academic gravitas to the event, highlighting the value of legal understanding in diplomacy and international affairs, while Falit Sijaria, in his keynote address, inspired the youth to be empathetic, globally aware changemakers. Earlier, CMS Manager Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, other dignitaries, and student participants. She remarked that such conferences play a vital role in shaping the younger generation into responsible global citizens. This generation will one day determine the direction of global society and serve as future policymakers aware of their responsibilities.
Following the inauguration, the committee discussions of the conference began with great vigor. The deliberations are being held across nine committees, including the United Nations Security Council, Joint Crisis Committee, Futuristic Economic and Social Council, International Press, World Plenary Government, among others. Each committee is engaged in vibrant discussions on separate agendas.

Convener of the MUN and Senior Principal of CMS Mahanagar Campus, Dr. Kalpana Tripathi stated that the enthusiastic participation of students proves that today’s generation is aware of the challenges of their time and is eager to offer constructive solutions. This conference will succeed in inspiring the future generation toward creating a world rooted in unity, peace, and harmony. Rishi Khanna, Head of Communications at CMS, informed that the deliberations and committee sessions will continue tomorrow, Sunday, 13 July.
