Gonda – A large community wedding ceremony was organized on Friday at the campus of M.D.B. Singh Inter College in Tarabganj under the state government’s Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme. The event was conducted in an orderly and dignified manner, bringing together couples from various parts of the district.
According to officials, a total of 242 couples from different development blocks, municipal councils, and nagar panchayats had registered for the program. Out of these, 199 couples were married following traditional customs during the ceremony. Among them, 12 couples solemnized their marriage through Islamic rituals, with the nikah conducted by Maulvi Sahebe Alam.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Tarabganj MLA Prem Narayan Pandey, District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vishwamitra, BJP District President, and District Social Welfare Officer Satya Prakash Singh. The guests visited the wedding venue and offered their blessings and best wishes to the newly married couples.
Speaking on the occasion, the leaders highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting underprivileged families. They stated that the scheme ensures that daughters from economically weaker sections, regardless of caste or religion, are able to get married with dignity. Under the initiative, financial assistance of ₹60,000 is provided to each couple directly in their bank accounts.

In addition to the financial support, newlyweds also receive essential household items as gifts, including silver anklets and toe rings, a steel dinner set, a five-liter pressure cooker, clothing for both the bride and groom, a wall clock, and a basic personal care kit to help them begin their married life.
The event was also attended by the Block Pramukh of Tarabganj, the BJP district president, Block Development Officers of Tarabganj, Nawabganj, and Belsar, the chairperson of Nagar Panchayat Tarabganj, along with several public representatives and administrative officials.
