New Delhi: Nineteen-year-old pistol shooter Rudra R. Shankar has delivered a standout performance at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competition, emerging as one of the most promising young talents in Indian shooting. Rudra achieved the rare distinction of becoming a Renowned Shooter across all pistol disciplines in a single national championship and qualified for all corresponding Indian Shooting Team trials.
Competing against the country’s top shooters, Rudra secured qualification in five pistol events—an uncommon feat, particularly at his age. His performances included scores of 563/600 in Sports Pistol, 544/600 in Standard Pistol, 521/600 in Free Pistol, 556/600 in Air Pistol, and 559/600 in Centre Fire Pistol. These results underline his versatility and consistency across diverse pistol formats.
Achieving Renowned Shooter status in all pistol events at one national competition reflects years of disciplined training, technical precision and the ability to perform under pressure. Shooting experts note that such across-the-board qualification is usually seen among more experienced athletes, making Rudra’s achievement especially significant.
Rudra trains under the guidance of coach Adarsh Choudhary, whose technical inputs and structured training approach have played a key role in shaping the young shooter’s development and competitive temperament at the national level.

He also comes from a family closely associated with shooting sports and performance development. His father, Ravi Shankar, is a former IAS officer and a pistol shooter who currently works as a life coach focusing on leadership and mental conditioning. His mother, Archana Shankar, is a well-known shooter and a Money Mindset Coach, recognised for her work in performance psychology and financial discipline.
With this milestone at the 68th National Shooting Championship, Rudra R. Shankar has firmly established himself as a rising force in Indian shooting. As he prepares for Indian team trials, expectations are high that he will continue to build on this momentum and make his mark at higher national and international platforms.
