1,162 Differently-Abled Persons Linked to Employment in 13 Days Under Yogi Government’s Inclusive Drive

Lucknow: In a significant push towards inclusive development, the Uttar Pradesh government has successfully connected 1,162 differently-abled individuals to salaried jobs and self-employment within just 13 days under the ‘Divyangjan Rozgar Abhiyan 2.0’.

The statewide campaign, conducted from February 6 to 18 by the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission across all 75 districts, was implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and guided by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Kapil Dev Agarwal.

Minister Agarwal stated that the Yogi government is committed to making differently-abled citizens self-reliant by linking skill development directly with employment opportunities. He emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” ensuring that every section of society is brought into the mainstream of development.

Mission Director Pulkit Khare coordinated with district officials to ensure effective implementation. Beyond the targeted beneficiaries, 856 additional differently-abled individuals voluntarily joined the campaign and secured employment or self-employment opportunities. The Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana also played a key role by extending financial assistance for entrepreneurial ventures.

District-level job fairs and placement drives offered opportunities in finance, insurance, telecom, retail and service sectors. Selected candidates received job offers ranging from ₹9,000 to ₹21,000 per month for roles such as telecaller, machine operator, technical assistant, helper and retail sales associate. Self-employment avenues included mobile repairing, tailoring, Common Service Centres, dairy and animal husbandry.

Fatehpur, Amroha, Farrukhabad, Varanasi and Maharajganj emerged as top-performing districts. Officials also conducted door-to-door outreach and counselling to maximize participation.

Calling the campaign a milestone, Minister Agarwal said it not only provides employment but also restores dignity and confidence among differently-abled youth. He affirmed that similar initiatives will continue to strengthen inclusive growth in the state.
