10th Armed Forces Veterans Day Celebrated with Grandeur in Lucknow

 

The 10th Armed Forces Veterans Day was commemorated with solemnity, pride and heartfelt gratitude in Lucknow, through the organisation of a Mega Veterans’ Rally at Surya Auditorium, under the aegis of Headquarters Madhya Uttar Pradesh Sub Area. The event stood as a powerful tribute to the selfless service, sacrifices and enduring legacy of India’s veterans.

The rally was graced by Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, Hon’ble Union Minister of State, as the Chief Guest, who interacted warmly with the veterans and acknowledged their unparalleled contribution to the Nation. Senior dignitaries present on the occasion included Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Central Command, and Shri L. Venkateswarlu, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Social Welfare & Sainik Kalyan), Government of Uttar Pradesh, reflecting the strong synergy between the Armed Forces and the civil administration in matters of veteran welfare.

More than 700 Veterans and Veer Naris from Lucknow city and adjoining areas participated in the rally, reaffirming the deep emotional bond and mutual trust between the serving fraternity and its extended veteran community. The veterans were accorded a warm and respectful welcome, symbolising the Nation’s gratitude for their lifelong dedication and service.

A wide range of facilitation and welfare support mechanisms were put in place at the venue to address veterans’ concerns in an integrated manner. These included grievance redressal counters, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) assistance desks, medical check-up facilities, along with guidance on entitlements and welfare schemes. Uttar Pradesh Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam delivered a comprehensive presentation, outlining ongoing initiatives and future avenues for resettlement, welfare and empowerment of veterans.

As a mark of respect and appreciation, all veterans were felicitated with shawls and arrangements for refreshments and lunch were made at the venue. The event also provided an invaluable platform for interaction, listening and reassurance, reinforcing the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to the dignity, welfare and well-being of its veterans and their families.

The celebrations served as a poignant reminder that while soldiers may retire from active service, their contribution to Nation Building remains eternal and their legacy continues to inspire generation
