Lucknow: In a major crackdown on fraudulent input tax credit (ITC) claims, Lucknow Police have arrested Keshwani Abbas Hussain Ramzan Ali from Pune. The accused is alleged to have orchestrated a scam worth ₹8.71 crore through bogus companies. The case came to light last September when a complaint was lodged at Indiranagar police station against Aradhya Enterprises for allegedly claiming ITC fraudulently.
Mastermind Behind Multiple Firms
Investigations revealed that the accused was not limited to Aradhya Enterprises. He is reportedly the mastermind behind several other firms, including SM Traders, Rathore Enterprises, and Gaur Trading. Authorities said these firms were part of a larger network engaged in GST and ITC fraud across multiple states.
According to Gaurav Kumar Rajput, Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, Zone 21, Aradhya Enterprises was registered using documents of Naveenchandra Keshwalal Solanki from Ahmedabad, but the operations were run by others. The accused allegedly prepared fake invoices and submitted them to banks and tax authorities, enabling large-scale fraudulent ITC claims.
Bogus Companies and Forgery Networks
Experts noted that such cases highlight a wide network of forgery and deception, often misusing company and individual identities at urban and rural levels. Police said efforts to apprehend other accused persons are ongoing.
Tightening the Noose on GST Fraud
State tax officials emphasized that regular verification of firms and monitoring of digital records and banking transactions are critical to curb such scams. Lucknow Police stated that the accused will be produced in court, and further action against accomplices will follow, signaling stringent enforcement against financial fraud.
The arrest marks a significant step in the collaborative investigation by state and central agencies, aiming to dismantle the entire network of bogus companies and expose its orchestrators.
