₹100 Crore Innovation Fund Approved to Boost Entrepreneurship and Startups @ AKTU

Lucknow – Under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.P. Pandey, the Finance Committee of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University convened a meeting to discuss and approve several significant proposals aimed at advancing innovation, entrepreneurship, and technical education in the state.

Approval for a ₹100 Crore Innovation Fund

A major highlight of the meeting was the approval of a proposal to establish a ₹100 crore Innovation Fund. The fund aims to support innovation hubs and incubation centers, empowering students to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision of achieving a $5 trillion economy by fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth.

Introduction of New B.Tech Courses

The committee also approved the budget for initiating new B.Tech programs in the upcoming academic session. The university is emphasizing skill development among engineering students, particularly in core branches like Electrical, Mechanical, and Instrumentation Engineering. To facilitate this, Centers of Excellence will be established in collaboration with industry partners at prominent institutes, including IET Lucknow, KNIT Sultanpur, BIET Jhansi, and UPID Noida. These centers will provide industry-specific training to students, ensuring their readiness for the job market.

New Master’s Program in Planning

The Faculty of Architecture and Planning received in-principle approval to launch a new Master of Planning program with a specialization in Infrastructure Planning and Management. This program aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in infrastructure development and urban planning.

Establishment of a Biotechnology Excellence Center

To promote high-quality research, the committee approved a budget of ₹6 crore for establishing the Center of Excellence in Bioprinting and Applied Biotechnology at IET Lucknow’s Biotechnology Department. This facility will focus on advanced research and innovation in biotechnology.

Cashless Health Insurance for Employees

In a move to enhance employee welfare, the committee greenlit a proposal for cashless health insurance for university employees and their dependents. The scheme will be funded through the Employee Welfare Fund, ensuring access to quality healthcare without financial stress.

Meeting Details

The proposals were presented by Finance Officer Keshav Singh. The meeting was attended by key officials, including Special Secretary (Government) Annavi Dinesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance Department) representative Vivek Kumar Singh, Registrar Reena Singh, and other committee members.

With these decisions, the university aims to strengthen its infrastructure, provide enhanced opportunities for students, and contribute to the state’s overall economic and educational development.
