Lucknow: The All India Industry Trade Board is examining both the potential benefits and implications of the proposed 0.4 per cent Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on UPI transactions, national president Sandeep Bansal said.
Addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the Guin Road Industry Trade Board in the Aminabad area, Bansal said the organisation was conducting a detailed study through a national-level committee regarding the proposed UPI charge, which is scheduled to be introduced from October 15.
Bansal said digital and e-commerce facilities had become an important part of modern business, but the impact of the proposed MDR on traders also needed to be assessed carefully. He said the organisation would convey its views to the government if the proposal required any changes.
According to Bansal, the possible negative implications of the proposal had received greater attention so far. The organisation would take a final view after examining its potential positive aspects as well.
During the ceremony, newly elected office-bearers of the Guin Road Industry Trade Board took oath. Sumit Agrawal was appointed president, Shyam Narayan Mishra general secretary and Jitendra Singh treasurer. Other office-bearers, including vice-presidents, organisational secretaries, publicity office-bearers and patrons, also took the oath.
State president Ripan Kansal, national minister Pradeep Agrawal, Lucknow metropolitan president Suresh Chhablani, state organisational secretary Javed Beg and several other office-bearers and hundreds of traders attended the event.
