Amethi: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya inaugurated three newly constructed hostels at the Jais campus of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), marking a significant addition to the institute’s residential infrastructure.
The newly inaugurated facilities are the Subhas Chandra Bose Hostel, Homi Bhabha Hostel and Vidyasagar Hostel, together providing accommodation for 956 students. The new facilities are expected to strengthen the institute’s residential capacity while providing students with modern, safe and comfortable living arrangements.
Upon his arrival at RGIPT, Maurya was received by RGIPT Director Professor Harish Hirani, along with the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police and other distinguished guests. He unveiled the inaugural plaques of the three hostels and inspected the facilities provided for students.
The main ceremony was subsequently held at the institute auditorium and began with the traditional lighting of the lamp. Professor Harish Hirani and RGIPT Registrar Professor M. S. Balathanigaimani welcomed the Deputy Chief Minister with bouquets and presented him with a memento.
In his welcome address, Professor Hirani outlined RGIPT’s academic achievements, student-welfare initiatives and ongoing infrastructure development. He said the commissioning of the three hostels would substantially enhance residential capacity and provide students with an environment conducive to education, research and overall development.
The Subhas Chandra Bose Hostel has capacity for 304 students, while the Vidyasagar Hostel can accommodate 350 students and the Homi Bhabha Hostel 302 students.
Addressing students and faculty, Deputy Chief Minister Maurya called upon students to contribute actively to education, innovation, research and nation-building. He appreciated RGIPT’s initiatives in technical education, research and student welfare and encouraged the institute community to continue pursuing excellence.
Maurya also stressed the importance of strengthening research and innovation in India. He highlighted the need to reduce the country’s dependence on imported crude oil and accelerate the development and adoption of alternative and clean energy sources. Such efforts, he said, are important for strengthening India’s energy security while promoting environmental sustainability.
During the programme, the Deputy Chief Minister also distributed cheques to selected beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme.
Minister Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, MLA Suresh Pasi, Shailendra Pratap Singh, District Panchayat President Rakesh Agrahari and District President Sudhanshu Shukla were among the dignitaries present at the event.
Senior administrative officials, faculty members, officers, staff and students of RGIPT also attended the ceremony.
The inauguration of the three hostels represents another step in RGIPT’s efforts to expand its academic, residential and student-support infrastructure and provide students with a modern environment for education, research and professional development.
