Lucknow: CM Yogi Adityanath held an important meeting of the Energy Department. During this, he observed the presentation presented by the department. CM Yogi said that it is very important to increase awareness among the people to deposit the electricity bill on time. He said that just as people deposit mobile bills on time, similarly they should be encouraged to deposit electricity bills on time. For this, the department should prepare a strong mechanism. CM Yogi laid special emphasis on installing smart meters in the state and said that the public should be prepared for this. Smart meters are the need of the hour.

CM Yogi directed that the electricity bill should reach the homes of every consumer on time and without any disturbance. It is very important to make the meter reader accountable for this.

The Chief Minister said that consumers should be made aware about OTS, so that he is well aware of the facility available in depositing the outstanding electricity bill.

The Chief Minister said that consumers should not be harassed in the name of electricity bill under any circumstances. He said that we have spent our first 5 years in building infrastructure, now we have to give full focus on maintaining quality.

The Chief Minister said that if power is cut due to maintenance, then it is necessary to give prior information to the consumers about when and for how long the power supply will be disrupted. For this, use social media as much as possible.

CM Yogi said that the exercise of smart meters should be taken forward rapidly. This is very important for ease of living, which will give relief to the real consumers.

Officials told CM Yogi that there has been an increase in the hours of power supply in the state. Despite the scorching heat and leaving only local faults, the government has been successful in providing 24-hour power supply since March 15. There has been no shortage of electricity anywhere in the state.

According to officials, there are 3.45 crore electricity connections in the state. At the same time, 30 lakh connections have increased in two years. Told that till now in 2024, revenue of 70 thousand crores has been received, which is 17 percent more than last year. Apart from this, consumer turnup is about 92 percent in urban areas and 51 percent in rural areas.

The Chief Minister was told that 40 percent of the electricity bill in the state is being received online, 32 percent from the counter and 30 percent through various e-wallets. Strengthening the online services, facilities ranging from increasing the load to changing the name, address are being provided through the app. Also, an average of 7 SMS are also sent per month to deposit the electricity bill.

The Chief Minister was told that Maintenance Month was celebrated in October November 2023, which has yielded good results. It was told that the average demand for electricity has increased in the state in the months of April, May and June. In the summer season, the demand is 27 to 28 thousand MW on normal days, whereas in the scorching heat these days, the demand has reached 33 to 35 thousand MW. It is expected to decrease after the rains. CM Yogi was told that the work of setting up 10 units of 5255 MW in the state is going on at a fast pace. Apart from this, work is also going on on three big projects of 5120 MW, Obra D, Anpara E and Meja II. Work has been done to bring the transmission loss of electricity to the minimum level of 3 percent in the state.

The CM was told that many big projects of the department are going to start in Noida, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Kanpur and Lucknow in the state. Apart from this, in the first phase of the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar project, 1 crore solar roof tops are to be installed in the country while 25 lakh solar roof tops are to be installed in UP. For this, 16 lakh 97 thousand registrations have been completed so far. The Chief Minister said that the PM Surya Ghar Yojana should be implemented at a fast pace.
