New Delhi: Dr. Shinku Kumar Singh has formally taken charge as Joint Secretary (Sports) at the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) office in New Delhi. The appointment marks a significant step in strengthening the promotion and management of university-level sports across the country.
On the occasion, Professor Amarika Singh extended his best wishes and welcomed Dr. Singh to his new role. Several senior officials were present during the ceremony, including Joint Secretary Professor Dr. Alok Mishra, Under Secretary Sandeep Srivastava, along with Kartikeya and Kuldeep, among others.
Speaking at the event, Professor Amarika Singh shared insights from his extensive 48 years of experience in the university system, highlighting the importance of structured sports development and cultural integration in higher education institutions.
The Association of Indian Universities is a premier body representing private, state, and central universities across the country. With a legacy spanning over a century, the organization plays a key role in fostering academic collaboration, cultural exchange, and sports activities among universities.

In his new capacity, Dr. Shinku Kumar Singh will oversee the Sports Division of AIU and is expected to contribute to the planning and execution of major inter-university sporting events. Under the leadership of Professor Amarika Singh, AIU is also preparing to host several national-level sports competitions, for which proposals have already been submitted.
The development is seen as a positive move towards enhancing the role of sports in India’s higher education ecosystem.
